Using Holy Anointing Oil
in massage therapy and other therapies!

Using holy anointing oil in massage therapy may seem like a crazy idea, but to some, the benefits of these essential oils are far more numerous than other oils. Oils that the Holy Bible tells us Jesus used have a much deeper meaning to Christians, and are much more likely to help on their path to healing.

Oils have natural healing properties that have been used since biblical days. In the book of Numbers, we are told that Frankincense was used to stop a plague, and in Matthew, we are told that the wise men brought Frankincense and Myrrh to baby Jesus, most likely to be used for medicinal reasons.

In all, essential oils or aromatic plants are referenced more than 600 times throughout the bible.

In early church history, there are records that indicate essential oils were used for healing purposes by priests, healers, or holy men. In Old Testament law, no lay person could use the oils, for it was considered sacred.

However, in the New Testament we read that Mary used holy anointing oil on the feet of Jesus to show her love for him. She may have inadvertently, opened the door for the regular, everyday person to use essential oils for health and healing.

In many ancient cultures, the sick would visit a Shaman or Medicine Man, who would use the oils for healing.

Scripture references and bible verses about oils and healing

The Lord said to Moses, “Take these fine spices: 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, 250 shekels of cinnamon, 250 shekels of calamus, 500 shekels of cassia—all according to the sanctuary shekel—and a hin of olive oil. Make these into a sacred anointing oil."

2) John 12:1-8

"Then Mary took a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. "

3) Genesis 43:11

"Put the best products in the land in your bags and take them to the man as a gift—a little balm and a little honey, some spices and myrrh, some nuts and almonds."

4) Ezekiel 47:12

There are many classes that provide certification in Clinical Aromatherapy to help massage therapists, and others interested in learning about essential oils, understand their health benefits.

You go away with a knowledge of the history and production of essential oils, which have been used for therapeutic purposes since early times. When Jesus told his disciples to “go out and heal”, He told them to “pray, lay-on-hands and anoint”.

These were high grade essential oils, not cooking or lamp oils, that were used by most as part of their ‘medicine cabinet’ as well as for marking things and people as holy. Unfortunately this information got lost. You will learn in class about how this happened and how times are changing as we seek complementary health solutions.

For most aromatherapy classes, you do not have to be seeking certification in order to take the classes.

This book, Healing Oils Of The Bible teaches how to use biblical anointing oils in massage therapy, as well as everyday life, and how beneficial they are to our health and emotional well-being.

Healing Oils of the Bible was written by Dr. David Stewart, who also shares bible versus about healing, and in-depth research findings on essential oils used for healing in the Bible.

Holy anointing oils, when used properly, can make your massage therapy an even greater healing experience!
